Weird Ingredients: Bulletproof Beet Kvass

Now is the time to make change.  Not later.  Later doesn't really exist.  So I have decided to do a 21-day sugar detox on steroids kombucha to really push my health and energy levels massively forward.  (Also, I think a side effect of this is fewer Warrior Mama episodes at my kids.)  I am doing level 3, which cuts out not only all grains but also all dairy.  Get ready because I am making additional changes.  I am not having eggs or legumes (peas are ok sometimes), and I am cutting out coffee.

Braised Pork Chops with Cream Sauce

Ever since I got my new knife, I love cutting leeks.  Leeks were the worst thing to try to cut with my old knife.  First, I would have to take a running start before every cut.  Then that cut would only make it about halfway down and I would have to tear the rest of the layers of the leek.  It was worth it in the end because leeks are delicious.  They have all the tastiness of onions mixed with garlic but none of the burn or sliminess.  It's like looking into the sun with polarized sunglasses on.  See the beauty, skip the pain.

1-pot wonder: Local Chicken and Asparagus

I went to the Farmer's Market this weekend and to my delight, what did I find?  Chicken is BACK!  We took a looooooong hiatus from chicken due to its seasonality, so I snapped those babies right up and took them home for a delectable dinner.  This recipe is simple because well-raised chicken speaks for itself.
