The Power of Love

There is a theory that says "once a need is fulfilled, it goes away."  The corollary to that theory is that an unfulfilled need may become another need that cannot be fulfilled (read: addiction!).  These needs are black holes in our lives that suck our energy.

Bella is rounding the corner on that 2 year mark.  The famous "terrible" predictions are in the wake.  Then again maybe they are not.  I am choosing not to buy into "terrible."  In any case, we bought these secondhand legos last weekend.  They were princess-themed.  Xavi (7 months old) was playing with one of them when she decided she wanted all of them just so she could have all of them.  She grabbed the one out of his hand.  After much coaxing to share, much screaming from her, and a few body noodles, I just hugged her.  I told her how much I love her.  She started to cry and I held her closer.  She began to nurse and dropped all the legos on the floor; she just cast them aside.  The unfulfillable need for those toys and her hoarding desires dissolved.  After about 10 more minutes of nursing she got down and began to share her legos with Xavi.  They had a blast playing together after that.
